According to TMZ, "Kennedy is now turning to the courts ... going after Metcalf, the Pittsburgh Steelers, ex-NFL wideout Chad Johnson, Shannon Sharpe's Shay Shay Media, and more ... claiming they spread what he calls 'defamatory and life-altering' claims about him after the incident."

In total, the lawsuit has nine total counts, including defamation claims against Metcalf, Johnson and Sharpe's company. The defamation in question began when Metcalf allegedly told Johnson that Kennedy had been racially insulting him, per the Nightcap podcast.

"I got word, um, obviously I'm not condoning, you know, putting your hands on the fan or punching the fan, but he did call him a racial slur. He called him the N word,"

Kennedy denies those accusations.

Kennedy's attorney, Jon Marko, has since provided a statement to TMZ.

"The N-word is the most offensive and inflammatory racial slur in the English language. No other word expresses so much hatred and bigotry. Falsely accusing someone of using that word hurts not only the person falsely accused, but hurts every victim of racial hatred and bigotry."

Outside of the defamation suit, Kennedy is also seeking a full public retraction from all parties involved. He claims that the bad information has had a monumental impact on his reputation. Furthermore, Kennedy is allegedly suing Ford Field, claiming that stadium staff failed to put proper security measures into place, leading to Metcalf being able to reach him in the stands.

The lawsuit is set to continue. There is no further update on what to expect regarding the suit. More details will undoubtedly arise as the case unfolds.
