As the former host of The Daily Show, Noah has been known to wade into the realm of politics. So at the Grammys, he couldn't resist commenting on the state of things. While hosting the music event, the host suggested in a joke that Trump was involved in Jeffrey Epstein's illicit activities.
Noah said via BBC, "Song of the Year - that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein's island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton."
Although Trump and Epstein were friends for years, the president denies knowledge of Epstein's crimes. The two had a falling out in 2004. Currently, the president hasn't faced any criminal charges related to Epstein's human trafficking ring. The Justice Department says that any allegations of Trump's involvement with Epstein and his activities are false.
Donald Trump Angry Over Joke
So when Trump heard of the joke, he threatened to sue the comedian. Taking to Truth Social, Trump promised Noah he was "sending my lawyers to sue."
The president continued, "Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!"
He claimed that all of Noah's joke was fake news. Trump wrote, "I can't speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media."
He then threatened Noah personally.
"Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. Get ready, Noah, I'm going to have some fun with you!" Trump warned.
It's not the first time that Trump has pursued legal action against those he believed defamed him. In December, he filed a multi-billion-dollar lawsuit against the BBC. We'll see what becomes of this and if the president actually does pursue legal action.
