Massive Recall Issued for Products Stored in Unsanitary Facility Including Food, Drugs, and Medical Devices

A host of products including food, medical devices, cosmetics, pet food, and drugs are being recalled because they were stored in an unsanitary facility. In that facility, "rodent excreta, rodent urine, and bird droppings" were allegedly present. That is according to a company announcement from Gold Star Distribution, Inc. in Minneapolis. It's on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) web site.

That announcement is dated December 26, 2025. It states that "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) determined that the facility was operating under insanitary conditions...." The FDA gave the recall its Class II classification on January 22, 2026. That signifies that "use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences...," per the FDA.

The Affected Items Went to Dozens of Stores in Three States

Almost 2,000 FDA-regulated products are affected by the recall. It includes scores of name-brand food items like Cheerios and Pringles, per People. The products went to dozens of stores in three states - North Dakota, Indiana, and Minnesota.

What Are the Potential Risks and Hazards From Use of or Exposure to These Products?

Per the announcement from Gold Star Distribution, these products could possibly cause someone to develop infection from Salmonella, leptospirosis (in animals and humans), and skin irritation (from contaminated cosmetics). The announcement also notes that no illnesses have been reported.

The public is being told to "destroy the products as soon as possible and verify such destruction by receipt provided to Gold Star at 1000 N. Humboldt Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411." The affected items "should not be sent back to Gold Star."

If anyone is experiencing possible adverse reactions to these products, they are being advised to contact their medical professional. If they are worried about a pet, reach out to your veterinarian.
