“Politics Kept Him Out”: Football Fans, President Trump Destroy “Sissy” NFL for Bill Belichick Hall of Fame Snub

How could Bill Belichick not be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility?

This is the question many analysts and players are asking after the news that the man who won six Super Bowl rings as a head coach of the New England Patriots fell short of the 40 votes needed for induction.

The news is so surprising that even President Donald Trump is calling for the Hall's decision to be overturned.

So, why did Belichick get shut out? We'll try to explain below.

Bill Belichick Is "Puzzled" and "Disappointed" by the Decision

Belichick was contacted by a Hall of Fame representative on Friday afternoon to inform him that he won't be inducted this summer.

According to ESPN, sources say that the coach is "puzzled and disappointed" that he didn't receive the support needed. He even asked one associate, "Six Super Bowls isn't enough?"

He reportedly asked another friend, "What does a guy have to do?"

"Politics kept him out," another source told the outlet. "He doesn't believe this is a reflection on his accomplishments."

While Belichick hasn't officially commented on the decision, the Hall of Fame said this in a statement:

"The Pro Football Hall of Fame does not comment on the voting of the Selection Committee and awaits the unveiling of the Class of 2026 at 'NFL Honors' on Feb. 5 in San Francisco."

Sources claim that the two scandals that plagued Belichick and the Patriots, Spygate and Deflategate, came up in Hall of Fame voter deliberations.

"The only explanation [for the outcome] was the cheating stuff," said one voter. "It really bothered some of the guys."

Fans, Players, and the President React to the News

In addition to his six Super Bowl wins as a head coach, Belichick has two rings from his time as an assistant coach with the New York Giants. That's a total of eight championship rings. He also has 333 wins on his record, making Belichick second only to Don Shula in total victories.

Many players couldn't believe the news.

"I can't be reading this right, said J.J. Watt on X. This has to be some knock-off Hall of Fame or something, it can't be the actual NFL Hall of Fame. There is not a single world whatsoever in which Bill Belichick should not be a First-Ballot Hall of Famer."

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said it was "insane" that Belichick wasn't going to be inducted. Fans called the snub "criminal."

President Trump even talked about Belichick's exclusion while commenting on the NFL's new kickoff rule.

"It is the same mindset that gave pro football the new and unwatchable 'Sissy' kickoff rule, that made it possible for Bill Belichick to not be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame," he wrote on Truth Social. "Both are ridiculous and should be overturned!"

What we're anxious to find out is how Belichick's girlfriend and unofficial image manager, 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, is going to spin this.
