If you're a punk fan, chances are that you've got Suicidal Tendencies in your playlist rotation. The legendary punk group has been going since the 80s, and is still producing music to this day. In fact, the group recently announced its latest drummer following Jay Weinberg's exit from the group.

The announcement was made via the band's social media accounts.

"We're stoked to introduce you to X, the new drummer!" the statement reads. "X has already recorded some tracks for the new 'Cyco Miko' album and is ready to officially jump on board with ST starting with the ShipRocked Cruise. This will be ST's third time doing ShipRocked and each time keeps getting better. Looking forward to seeing you there and/or any of the shows/festivals coming this year. So please, welcome X and look out for lots of news announcements coming soon from ST and the Cyco family for 2026 and beyond!"

By already adding X, real name Xavier Ware, to some new music, it's clear Suicidal Tendencies have high hopes for his tenure with the group. Losing Weinberg, who is formerly of Slipknot, was a blow, especially as he hadn't been with the group for too long.

Why Did Jay Weinberg Leave Suicidal Tendencies?

Upon his exit from Suicidal Tendencies, Weinberg announced that he was leaving of his own volition and that he remains on good terms with the group. However, some big changes to his life circumstances led to the decision. He elaborated via an Instagram post.

"As an exciting and busy 2026 takes shape, I'd like to thank Suicidal Tendencies for bringing me onboard for an incredible year and a half of shows! What an absolute blast. With Chloe Weinberg's & my first child on the way, I've been dedicating time to passion projects like Portraits Of An Apparition, a growing series of collaborations, finally building a proper at-home creative space, and some new in-the-works projects that I can't quite announce just yet."

Weinberg will undoubtedly be missed. However, fans have responded enthusiastically to his replacement according to comments on Suicidal Tendencies' recent statement, and this excitement should boost ticket sales and downloads moving forward.
