The Cops Were Listening to This Country Song When They Arrested Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore

They say the right song can make a moment. Let's just say that law enforcement was a little too on the nose with their choice in music.

College football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested on Dec. 10, just hours after being fired "for cause" by the University of Michigan.

The cause for his termination was an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member he worked with, which violated school policy. He then entered the woman's home after his dismissal and threatened to harm himself.

According to ESPN, prosecutors charged Moore with felony third-degree home invasion and two misdemeanors: stalking in a domestic relationship and breaking and entering.

The alleged incident is no laughing matter. However, as the dash cam footage from Moore's arrest shows, there is some irony to be found in what the police chose to listen to during the arrest. We have the details below.

The Police's Playlist Was More Than Fitting

The dash cam footage, which was obtained by The Detroit News last week, reveals that the arresting officers may have put together a playlist for their arrest of Moore.

How else could one explain why Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" was playing when officers pulled up to the parking lot of The Well Church, located in Saline, Michigan?

Then, as police talk to Moore outside, the Jordan Davis hit "Turn This Truck Around" can be heard. The song is about the singer's struggle to return to the home of an ex-lover. Again, very appropriate listening.

But once the commercials and weather report pipe in, it becomes apparent that this seemingly well-timed soundtrack was just a coincidence.

What's Next for Moore?

While Moore has admitted the affair, he has denied allegations that he was violent toward the female staff member. He pleaded not guilty to charges and was released from police custody on $25,000 bail. He was ordered to wear a GPS tracking device and not to contact the staff member.

Ellen Michaels, Moore's lawyer, says that her client is not guilty.

"Sherrone Moore is innocent of these charges," Michaels said. "Today [Jan. 22], on behalf of Mr. Moore, we filed a motion to quash the arrest warrant and dismiss the complaint."

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17 on additional discovery materials the defense has requested. A probable cause conference has been scheduled for March 19.
