Country Music Star Gets Promoted to New Role in Army Reserve

In 2022, country singer Craig Morgan released a book titled God, Family, Country: A Memoir. For him, those words are not just a book title. They are the cherished values Morgan, 61, lives by. So when he was promoted to the rank of chief warrant officer two by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on January 15 at the Pentagon, Morgan was absolutely thrilled.

Morgan Humbly Welcomed the Promotion With "Honor and Pride"

Per Fox News Digital, he said appreciatively, "It was an honor. It's always a huge honor when one of the senior leaders in your chain of command pins your rank on." At that moment, this is what the celebrated country artist was thinking. "Two things. Humility. I was honored beyond anything in hopes that people would recognize the pride that we have in our nation and our uniform as service members. My objective is always to properly represent everyone else who don't get that opportunity."

Morgan added, "I think I answered both of my two things, pride and humility. Honor and pride, you know, which I tell people all the time. Those are two elements that I find that the only place that they are well-balanced is in the military and, for me, the Army."

His Long and Distinguished Career in the Military

According to the outlet, Craig Morgan "served 17 years in the Army and Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions...." He reenlisted three years ago when he was 59 years old.

How He Managed To Combine Service and Singing

It is not easy to blend a fill-tilt music career with the demands entailed in military service to your country. Even Morgan admits that he had doubts about whether it was doable. He has successfully pulled it off.

Per the outlet, he said, "...[T]here was times in my life when I questioned whether I could" do both. Now, however, Morgan shared, "I am more attentive to the resources that are available to us as soldiers. I was a make-it happen, do-it-yourself kind of guy when I was in the Army. And I realized that we are a big team, and you need to rely on your teammates."

In addition, his own team has expanded. "My music is a big company," Morgan said. He explained that it includes CEOs and CFOs and others who help make his professional music career happen.

What Motivates His Military Service

Craig Morgan is deeply and sincerely committed to serving his nation. He makes that ultra clear. Morgan is not serving on a whim. It's a calling to him, a noble mission, in fact.

"I am physically able, and mentally and emotionally, spiritually able [to serve]. Number two, I had 17 and a half years when I got out. Got nothing, and I'm not saying I want something, but the one thing that I do want is a letter hanging on my wall that says I served and retired from service to my nation."
