But before the "Blue Ain't Your Color" singer became single in the eyes of the law, he sat down with session guitarist and producer Dann Huff for his YouTube show The Experience.
Although most of their nearly two-hour conversation centered on Urban's music, the discussion shifted at one point to his personal life. Here's what the singer-songwriter shared.
Keith Urban Is "Simplifying" This Year
From the start of the interview, Huff was focused on the New Year. He explained at the top of the show that his conversation with Urban was recorded on Jan. 2. Resolutions and goals were on everyone's mind.
After Urban asked Huff what he was working on as a person in 2026, Huff asked the singer the same question. The singer took a pregnant pause and shared his answer.
"Guitar-playing-wise, I'd like to work on playing less," he said. "Not playing the next two notes I was about to play. Just having confidence that the one you're playing right now is more than enough and letting it sit for a second."
Building on this point, Urban extended the idea of simplicity beyond just music.
"And just being aware that I'm aware," Urban added. "That I'm none of the voices in my head. I'm just the one listening. Because it simplifies everything and brings it right back to a very calm, steady, grounded place.
Urban Is Introducing a New Daily Concept to His Life
Urban then began sharing a new concept a friend introduced him to, and discussed how it applies to clarity.
"As a friend of mine says, just work on how you introduce yourself to the day," Urban explained. "I thought that was an absolutely beautiful phrase. He said to me, 'How do you introduce yourself to the day, every day?' And I thought, 'Oh my gosh, I love that. I love that.'
"So how do you do it in the morning?" Urban said. "That's where I'm at. Simplifying. Simplifying is my journey this year."
Things look pretty simple for Urban at the moment. In 2026, he has tour dates planned in the Bahamas, the United Kingdom, California, Florida, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Iowa.
