Brad Paisley and Kimberly Paisley are, in my opinion, one of the most underrated celebrity couples. Recently, Brad revealed that, although he met Kimberly on the set of one of his music videos in 2002, he had actually known of her long before then.

When he was on a first date with his college girlfriend, Brad shared that they'd gone to Pizza Hut, of course, and then to the movie theatre to see Father of the Bride, which Kimberly stars in. It obviously didn't end up working out for Brad and that girl, but as he told the TODAY show, his ex gave him "the best gift" she ever could have.

"Later when I moved to Nashville, still dating that girl but I had to go. It's time to go to Nashville. I transferred to Belmont," he recalled. "Leaving her behind."

That's when Brad's girlfriend cheated on him.

"She cheated on me with my best friend," he revealed. "And uh, as a songwriter, thank you so much. Perfect, honestly, couldn't have written a better script."

Unfortunately, moving on in real life would prove to be more difficult, until Brad went to see Father of the Bride: Part II.

How Brad Paisley's Heartbreak Inspired His Second Studio Album

"After I moved to Nashville, out comes Father of the Bride: Part II," Brad shared. "And I'm still not quite over this girl, and my songwriting best friends, all my friends were songwriters, and co-writers, and they were like, 'you just gotta get over this.'"

That's when Brad's friends told him to go see the movie on the same day he'd gone with his girlfriend to see the first one. If she showed up at the theatre, he'd know it was meant to be. "[They told me] If she's there, it's fate. And if she's not, shut up about it. And that's closure and you need that too."

After going to the movie theatre by himself, and leaving without his ex girlfriend, that's when Brad decided it was time to move on. He ended up naming his next album Part Two, inspired by his visit to the movies.

After that is when Paisley "got Kim's number from a friend," and the rest was history. Now 22 years later, they're still married with 2 kids and a life some of us could only dream of.

It's so funny how things work out.
