“I Don’t Know What It’s Like To Be a Parent”: Bobby Bones Talks Approaching Fatherhood With an Open Mind

The host of 'The Bobby Bones Show' is going to be a dad! In a recent interview, Bones got honest about parenting with very little experience.

Radio personality Bobby Bones is going to be a father. He revealed this in a fall Instagram post with his wife, Caitlin Estell. Since the couple announced the pregnancy back in September, they're now getting pretty close to hitting the due date mark.

In a podcast episode with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Bobby shared that he's not afraid to take on the challenge of fatherhood. However, he didn't have any strong parental figures growing up, so he's going into parenting with very little frame of reference.

"I'm sure that it'll be awesome and awful and challenging and amazing," the radio personality shared. "Really, I have no expectation other than this is going to be a really wild experience."

"I didn't have parents. I don't know what it's like to be a parent," he admitted. "That's why I'm like, I don't know what this is going to be...But I'm so happy that I get to do it with [my wife]."

Rather than being scared, Bones is looking at fatherhood as a rare opportunity. In a conversation with his therapist, he realized that he wants to give his kid the childhood he didn't have.

"I said, 'I think I don't have something that I'm living up to or trying to be different than because I don't have anything. I didn't have parents that I want to be... I'll show them, I want to raise them completely different.'"

How Bobby Bones' Wife Changed His Perspective on Love

Bobby Bones and Caitlin met on the set of Dancing With the Stars in 2018, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. It wasn't until they reconnected on Instagram a little bit later that sparks flew. Then, in July of 2021, the couple got married in an intimate backyard setting at their home in Nashville, Tennessee.

In an interview with People, Bobby spoke about the feeling of being in love with someone. For him, it was being with Caitlin that made him realize there wasn't anything "wrong" with him.

"I'd only seen it on movies or read about it in books," Bones shared. "And if you've never experienced it, you start to go, 'Either something's wrong with me, or everybody's lying.' And so I met her and then it was just like a recharge inside of me."

He told Bristowe, "My wife is the first person in my whole life that I ever told I loved. My family, we didn't say love." He admitted, "I credit her as to being the foundational shaker of me that made me realize that I have it in me."
