The security guard who quit over a man in a wheelchair at a recent Jelly Roll concert is speaking out. Jelly Roll was performing at the North Dakota State Fair, when fans captured video of Tony Demaree, a security guard working at the show, being told to move a man in a wheelchair behind a barricade. Demaree had allowed the young man to move directly in front of the barricade so he could see.

Fans captured the moment Demaree quit on the spot, tossing his orange vest to his disgruntled supervisor and walking away.
"My job was to keep that area clean and clear of all people so that the security people could get back and forth," Demaree says, via WOWT.
"If they don't mind if people are there, this fella needs to be where he can see," he adds.
Demaree defends his actions, saying the young man wasn't in anyone's way, but his supervisor wasn't having any of it.
"My boss came up to me, and he said I wasn't doing my job and that I was incompetent," he adds.
What Happened At The Jelly Roll Concert
A TikTok user who goes by MichelleMulligan13 shares details of what happened. She also shares a glimpse into the bravery of Demaree.
"This security guard with his hand up ended up quiting shortly after I stopped recording, because his boss told him he needed to have the young man in the wheelchair back behind the gate where he couldn't see," she writes. "The security guard told him no, and his boss said he was fired, so he took off his vest and threw it at him, and told him he quit. Was the coolest thing besides getting to actually see Jelly again! He deserves so much more than that!"
Jelly Roll's wife Bunnie Xo is trying to get in touch with Demaree. She commented on the TikTok video, with Mulligan offering her assistance in helping connect Jelly Roll with Demaree. No word yet if they have been successful, but here's hoping the story has an even happier ending, for everyone involved.
