When Miranda Lambert started her MuttNation non-profit, she had no idea how big it would grow. An avid animal lover, MuttNation began in 2009, to "support the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay and neuter, educate the public about the benefits of these actions, and provide assistance to shelters during times of natural disaster," per the MuttNation website.

Not even a dreamer like Lambert could have ever imagined MuttNation would become so successful.
"We started as just me and my mom, a little mom and pop operation," Lambert tells Audacy. "And raising over $10 million has been, it's crazy, it blows my mind. I'm so thankful for people that give because we really vet every single place we give the money."
"$10 million later, we have been able to save and help thousands of shelters, thousands, hundreds of thousands of shelter animals," she adds.
How Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Is Helping Texas Flood Relief
When Lambert and her mom began MuttNation, she hoped to help a few shelters. She has since gone on to hep thousands of shelters all over the country, with Lambert invested in every detail. Lambert also uses MuttNation to help in disasters all over the country, including helping with the recent Texas flood tragedy.
"I think the entire country aches for Texas," Lambert tells Country Living. "For me, personally, it hit so close to the bone that the words don't exist to express the sorrow I feel for the families who have lost loved ones. And it seems like everyone I know knows someone whose life has been forever changed."
Lambert is working with Kerrville Pets Alive and MuttNation-Tractor Supply Relief For Rescues Fund, which Lambert started in 2023, to help give money to those in need.
"When facing such an unimaginable tragedy, I think it's a universal feeling to want to do something useful," Lambert acknowledges. "And one of the ways I'm able to be helpful is through my foundation, MuttNation, and our MuttNation-Tractor Supply Relief For Rescues Fund," Lambert shares. "We established the fund in 2023 so we could quickly provide financial assistance during times of natural disaster to animal shelters and rescues in need, and to the organizations aiding with their recovery efforts."
