According to VoteTimMyers.com, Myers is running to "fix a broken political system dominated by career politicians and special interests and rigged against the working class. He'll bring a fresh, strong voice to the Lt. Governor's office to fight back against the Trump administration's attacks, take on the rigged system with commonsense solutions, and ensure every Californian has the opportunity to chase their dreams, can afford to make a living here, and feels safe."
According to the website, Myers is third-generation California resident, who is also the son of a preacher. Myers is married and has two daughters. Myers reveals he began working at age 14, as a janitor at his father's church, instilling in him from early on an unstoppable work ethic.
What Tim Myers Says About Running For Political Office
In a campaign video shared on social media, Myers explains why he is trading a career in music for the opportunity to make a difference in his home state. Myers shows a clip of President Trump calling California a "disgrace" to the United States.
"You know what the real disgrace is?" Myers says. "A president who is doing everything he can to harm a state with the fourth largest economy in the world. Meanwhile, our own state leaders have done almost nothing to fight back. That's why I'm running for Lieutenant Governor, to help protect and rebuild the California that we love. To fight for the working families, for kids priced out of college, for seniors struggling to get by. For every Californian who feels forgotten."
"The status quo from career politicians just isn't cutting it," he continues in his passionate speech. "They've either sold out, stayed silent, or cashed checks from corporate lobbyists. Well, I'm not staying silent. I'm not a career politician. I'm a dad, a husband, a builder, and I'm stepping up because you don't choose the time, the time chooses you."
