LeAnn Rimes shocked fans in 2009 when it was revealed that she was having an affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. Rimes and Cibrian met when they were both appearing in Northern Lights. At the time, Rimes was married to Dean Sheremet, while Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville.

Rimes understandably faced plenty of backlash over the relationship, backlash Rimes says was well-deserved. Rimes, who wed Cibrian 2011, is opening up about that chapter in her life, and why she no longer cares what people think about her.
"I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who've been hurt. Like, I've been on both sides of that coin—I've been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling," Rimes admits to Flow Space. "But so many women don't know what to do with that anger... I was a target that was just easily projected upon. And once I realized that, things got a lot easier."
How LeAnn Rimes Moved Past The Hostility
Realizing that she is not a scapegoat for other people's hurt, Rimes now sees her own situation with a lot more clarity.
"Instead of taking it so personally, it's like, look, this is not all my pain to carry," the "How Do I Live" singer reflects. "I know what I'm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that. But you know, the world's pain is not mine to carry."
Rimes and Cibrian's relationship did not have the best start. Still, they remain together as a blended family. Cibrian and Glanville had two boys, with photos often shared on social media of both Glanville and Cibrian together with their sons, along with Rimes.
Rimes is still madly in love with Cibrian, although she regrets the way they handled the entire situation.
"I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else," Rimes says, adding that she takes "responsibility for everything." "I hate that people got hurt. But I don't regret the outcome."
Rimes and Cibrian remain happily married. In March, the couple celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary.
"The heart knows when the search is over' ... 14 years and many, many more!" Rimes writes. "I'm so proud of us! I love you, always."
