Billy Joel Wants People to Know 'I'm Not Dying,' According to Howard Stern

We're getting a health update on Billy Joel via his longtime friend Howard Stern. It all started in January this year when he postponed a show for a "medical procedure." Then, on March 2nd, he was back dazzling his audience with spins and dances, playing around with the microphone stand. However, shortly afterwards, he collapses. A week later, the Piano Man postpones more shows in order to focus on his health. "I hate delaying shows, but my health's gotta come first," he writes at the time. "I can't wait to hit the stage again and share live music with you all. Thanks for sticking with me."

Finally, Joel cancels all of his shows outright in May due to doctor's orders. They diagnose him with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition in the brain that affects sight, hearing, and balance. Once again, the 76 year old emphasizes his disappointment that he can't entertain his fans. But in the end, he stresses his health first so he can eventually come back and deliver a great performance.

Naturally, fans are deeply concerned for Billy Joel. However, his longtime friend and radio legend Howard Stern is acting as messenger to tell us not to worry.

Billy Joel Says He's Doing Just Fine Amidst NPH Diagnosis

Recently, Howard Stern went on his Sirius XM radio show with an update on the iconic singer. Stern reveals that he had dinner with him two weeks ago and that he's doing just fine all things considered. "[Joel] does have issues, but he said, 'Yeah, you can tell people, I'm not dying,' " Stern says. "He wants people to know that. He's got to deal with some medical stuff, but he was delightful."

Then, the radio host recalls having a "great conversation" with the 'Tell Her About It' crooner. Moreover, he was in good enough spirits to bust out his guitar that evening. Joel may not have the strong health to bust out all of his big stage moves. But he does seem like he's still chugging along, according to Stern.
