Jason Aldean will likely never go to space like Katy Perry just did. The 48-year-old has one very good, while also tragic, reason for wanting to stay on planet Earth.

"I think I was like, maybe in third grade or something when the Challenger went up and exploded," Aldean tells Taste of Country. "And we were all watching that on TV in our classroom."
Aldean is referring to when the Challenger exploded in 1986, shortly after liftoff. The tragic event killed all seven people on board, including teacher Christa McAuliffe. Aldean is happy for those who choose to go into space, but insists it will never be for him.
"Man, that's cool," he says. "Take some pictures and I'll check that out when you guys get back, but I have no desire to actually do that. I'm good."
Jason Aldean's New Album
Aldean has a hit single on the radio right now with "Whiskey Drink." The song is likely the last single from his 2023 Highway Desperado record, since he reveals he is hard at work on his next album.
"We [have] been in the studio a lot," Aldean tells Taste of Country. "Probably like the last eight months or so, six to eight months. Pretty much done with the album, at least my part."
Aldean is excited about his next set of tunes, which says a lot. The new record will be his 12th album.
"It's been a cool project," hints the singer. "A lot of songs. Couple duets in there too, so it's gonna be pretty cool ... A couple, two, three, we'll see. Some of that stuff is still in the works.
"There are a couple of songs in the works that I know are going to be duets," he adds. "Then there's one, maybe two that we still kind of haven't found our partner for that yet."
"Whiskey Drink" comes after his recent No. 1 hit with John Morgan, on "Friends Like That." The song is from Morgan's freshman Carolina Blue album. Aldean also let Morgan film the video on his property.
"The video starts with me in this fireworks shop," Morgan says on Country Countdown USA. "I'm getting some fireworks together, we're gonna blow stuff up, and let some steam off. We needed a place to do this, and you were cool enough to let us use your property. It was pouring rain."
