Miley Cyrus has opened up about an "excruciating" medical emergency she suffered from during a performance. The awful experience left her pretty scarred.

The 32-year-old Disney alum recently sat down on Apple Music's Zane Lowe Show. Together, they talked about a wide range of subjects, from stardom, to touring, to her most recent album. She also let her fans in on the painful medical episode that struck her while she performed on stage.
To hail in 2023, Miley Cyrus co-hosted a New Year's Special with her godmother Dolly Parton. There, she was hit with sudden agony.
Talking to Zane Lowe, Cyrus said, "I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels] when I was doing my New Year's show."
"I had a medical emergency," she shared. "I had an ovarian cyst rupture."
The rupture happened during the show, but she pushed on despite it.
"We didn't know exactly what was going on, ]but] it was pretty traumatic, cause it was extremely excruciating," she continued.
"I did the show anyways; it was really, really hard on me."
Lorne Michaels Helped Miley Cyrus Get Over Her Traumatic Experience
After the incident, Miley Cyrus would go on to speak to Lorne Michaels about it, and about how she then wanted to quit music.
"I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me," she shared. "He goes, 'Six months—everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'"
"And it was Christmas by then and that was New Year's, so I was expired on my amount of time that I was able to shut down. He's like, 'You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me that they were quitting music. Everyone does this. Everyone has these traumatic experiences.'"
Later, Cyrus admitted that she'll never really be done with music. "What I've always realized is that it will quit me before I ever quit it. That's not in the cards for me."
