The Surprising Singer That Lost The ACM Entertainer Of The Year Award More Than Anyone Else

When people think of academy awards and ceremonies, they typically think about records. People wonder which artists have the most awards in which categories, or who owns the most awards outright.

Well, with each record to do with winning, there's a record to do with losing. And it turns out that one of the most successful and well-known country artists not only holds the record for the most solo male artist ACM wins, but also the most Entertainer of the Year losses.

If you haven't guessed already, it's George Strait. The King of Country Music has lost the Entertainer of the Year Award the most out of any other country artist. I suppose when you've been around for as long as he has, you're gonna get nominated for many awards over many years.

And I guess not even George Strait can win them all.

It turns out that The King has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year 14 times. Since 1986, George Strait has won the award only twice. Out of 39 years of the ACM awards, he's only been nominated 14 times and has only won twice.

That really puts things into perspective.

The two occasions George Strait won were in 1990 and 2014. I'd really figured he would have won much more than that. Shockingly, The King is not nominated for any awards this year, so he can't extend any of his records on May 8.

George Strait Threatened By Chris Stapleton

George Strait may have 12 ACM Entertainer of the Year losses, but at least he's got the most solo male artist ACM wins, with 24. Although this is now in contest.

Chris Stapleton is nominated for 6 ACM awards this year. Should he win five of them, he'll dethrone George Strait. So The King is a spot of hot water here.

Of course, award ceremonies are meaning less and less to the country fans as the years pass. And with George Strait being historically disrespected and now potentially dethroned, I feel like we're reaching the end of an era.

Chris Stapleton deserves any award that comes his way, however. I'm just mighty surprised George Strait has missed out on so many awards despite his legacy. I suppose this does go to show just how relevant he's remained in the industry through the decades.
