Roy Cooper, known as "Super Looper" thanks to his incredible skill, was found dead in a house fire at the age of 69. Cooper was an eight-time world champion and a legend in the field, both the literal and figurative ones.

The ProRodeo Hall of Famer's sudden death is sad news to anyone with even a vague interest in rodeo. So it's no wonder that George Strait, the king of country, posted a tribute to him.

Taking to X, Strait wrote, "We lost our good friend and my hero Roy Cooper yesterday. He's with our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ now. God please be with the Cooper family and friends. We'll miss you amigo. I'll come find you one day. — gs"

It's not known just how close Strait and Cooper were, but it's clear his loss is more personal than many others' out there. It's a short and concise message, and you can tell that ever word is laced with sadness and respect.

Many celebrities and fans posted statements of mourning and grief over Roy Cooper's passing.

Roy Cooper Found Dead In House Fire

Per a local media outlet, Roy Cooper died on March 29. His house had burned down, although we don't yet know how it happened.

Police currently believe that Cooper's body was the only one inside the house.

The investigation is continuing, however.

His family have spoken out about this tragic happening. Cooper's son, Tuf, announced his death to Facebook. He wrote, "It is with great sadness that our family shares the passing of our Dad, The Super Looper, Roy Cooper. We're all in shock and at a loss for words from this tragedy at the moment."

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) also wrote a statement following his death. "The PRCA and rodeo community mourns the passing of ProRodeo Hall of Famer Roy Cooper in a house fire this evening," they wrote. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

I wish for Cooper's family to have all the support they need during this trying time.
