Music doesn't always have to be political, but is certainly can be. Neil Young has made his ideas about the current state of the US known with a stab at Elon Musk and the politics surrounding him.

Neil Young has been outspoken about his dislike of President Trump in the past, calling him the "worst president in history," and "a disgrace to my country." He's often commented on his policies and been an vocal opponent to him.
Now, Neil Young is doubling down, and has made his thoughts known about Elon Musk, right hand to the President. During his recent show with his band Chrome Hearts at the Autism Speaks' Light Up the Blues Concert, he debuted a new song.
The song talks about the need for other motor companies to focus on building electric cars. But Neil Young goes in hard on Elon Musk and his Tesla too. "If you're a fascist, get a Tesla/ It's electric, it doesn't matter," he sings.
He is, of course, referring to the wild salute that Elon Musk decided to throw out during Trump's inauguration. Musk has done little to deny his fascist accusations, and continues to make himself increasingly unpopular.

The new song from Neil Young wasn't only about Elon Musk, though. It called for other car manufacturers to step up to the plate and start making some better electric vehicles. When the market is lacking in decent Tesla alternatives, it's hard to buy anything else.
"Come on Ford/Come on GM/Come on Chrysler/Let's roll again," he called out to the American makers. "Build something special that people need/Build us a safe way for us to meet/Build us something that won't kill our kids/Runs real clean." Despite what Trump may say, Neil Young is still a patriot. He wants America to become a juggernaut of car manufacture again.
But, he also noted that America is falling behind with auto manufacturing. If EV is the future, then China is miles ahead. If the US doesn't pick its feet up, they'll be left in the dust. "Come on America/Let's get in the race/Now China's winning/They're making clean cars," He sings. "Over in China/They're way ahead/That's hard to swallow."
Neil Young certainly isn't going into his old age without a fight, rallying American companies, and attacking Elon Musk. I'm all for it.
