According to a report by Music Row, Gretchen Wilson will assume the role of "Tour Manager" in the upcoming CBS reality series, The Road. Wilson will support budding musicians during the music competition as they tour across America. She will also perform herself as part of the show.

The Country singer reportedly said, "Stepping into the role of Tour Manager for The Road has allowed me to take everything I've learned over all of my years of touring and pour it right back into these emerging musicians." She added, "Guiding them through the real and raw grind of life on the road has been a highlight of my career."

Wilson will have much insight to share as she's performed for over two decades. Her debut single "Redneck Woman" dropped in 2004.

What Is The Music Competition 'The Road' About?

'The Road' is ultimately a music contest but with a unique twist and different focus from other shows in the genre. Per TV Insider, the show trails headlining Country star Keith Urban as they search for the next hot act. Urban will headline at special venues across the US, while the contestants will perform as the opening act. Audiences at those venues will get to decide which contestants will stay for the next leg of the tour.

Urban reportedly said, "I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs. Sometimes just for the bartender. So, I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists." This approach means contestants will get a taste of the harsh life on tour as well as the glamorous part on stage.

CBS describes the show as "offering viewers a backstage pass into the gritty and unforgiving life of a touring artist." While the show features some of the biggest names in Country music, the contestants are not confirmed to all be artists in the genre. The show is due to air in Fall 2025 on CBS and Paramount +.
