Maren Morris Dishes About Support She Got From Her Pals Taylor Swift And The Chicks

It's some people's ultimate fantasy to get advice from illustrious stars like Taylor Swift and The Chicks. I'm not talking about asking them which lipstick to wear on a hot Saturday night date. I mean major, tailor-made career advice. Singer Maren Morris dished recently about her famous buddies in the biz and how they generously assisted her. She was a guest on TalkShopLive with host Kathy Buccio. Morris discussed her upcoming pop-tinged CD, D R E A M S I C L E. It features 14 tracks and drops on May 9. She also talked about the valuable support she got from her vocalist friends. Just shows what classy people they really are.

'D R E A M S I C L E' Will Be Highly Personal And Revelatory For Morris

Per Maren Morris's web site, D R E A M S I C L E, is going to be the singer's fourth studio album. She shared, "D R E A M S I C L E became less about the hard lessons and more about enjoying the bumpy ride and finding people who genuinely want to be on it with you because they love you. It's about appreciating and respecting the beauty and nuances of life while it's happening, not after it's too late."

That said, is it country or is it pop? Has Morris abandoned her country roots? Well, not quite, she said.

She Says She Isn't Really Drifting Away From Country

Morris said on TalkShopLive, "...I never said I'm moving from country into pop. I think I could have probably said that years ago even doing the middle, but I don't think I have to step between. I don't think I have to choose the music I'm doing. I just write it and it goes where it goes...like sometimes a story will like take hold and it becomes truth. And I just wanna say like for the record, I love country music."

Maren Morris Received Meaningful Support From Taylor Swift And The Chicks

It does seem like the star is making somewhat of a shape-shift of sorts from country to pop, of even just for the moment. Morris said she turned to Swift and The Chicks while she herself was touring with the all-girl ensemble for guidance on handling this genre switch.

"I couldn't have imagined a better support system then being able to talk to Martie [Maguire] and Emily [Robison] and Natalie [Maines] and people like Taylor who have really navigated those worlds in very different ways, obviously."

Their Help Was So Useful To Her

Morris added, "...[T]hat's one of the most life-giving things in this industry. It can feel really isolating sometimes. Having those people that have been through some version of it, I mean, I would not be the same person today if someone who had gone through it had not given me some sort of like, you know, peace talk. So, yeah. It's been a minute, but that was all kind of like two years ago. But, it was extremely helpful for me. I mean, I love girls' girls."

And we love Maren Morris, Taylor Swift, and The Chicks. Not just for their amazing music, but for the integrity and honesty they always bring to everything they do, in life and in song.
