More and more, it seems easier to get sick and catch a disease. It's not even COVID or the common flu anymore. People are getting measles and whooping cough all of a sudden for a variety of reasons. You would think we would be past this point by now. Who knows what we could catch nowadays? One popular singer caught an insane illness that dates all the way back to the age of the pirates.

Recently, British pop sensation Robbie Williams spoke with The Mirror. There, he candidly admits to being in a horrible place mentally, the first time in a long time he's felt truly depressed. "It's been about 10 years... I thought I was at the other end of the arc," the singer says. "I thought this was the end of my story, and that I would just go walking into this marvelous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing."
Consequently, his horrid mental health causes him to neglect his actual health. Robbie felt like he had an incredibly lousy diet so he took something to suppress his appetite. However, the British singer stops eating entirely and he ends up with a gnarly illness only pirates would get.
Doctors Diagnose British Singer Robbie Williams With... Scurvy?!
"I'd stopped eating and I wasn't getting nutrients," he says. "A 17th century pirate disease." Robbie doesn't say which drug exactly he was on but this isn't his first time doing this either. Back in October 2023, he said he was on "something like Ozempic" in reaction to his weight.
This all stems from the singer battling body dysmorphia, where there's almost never a satisfaction with how their body looks. "With body dysmorphia, when people say they're worried about how you're looking, you're like: 'I've achieved it,'" Robbie explains. "When people say: 'We're worried you're too thin' that goes into my head as 'Jackpot. I've reached the promised land.'"
