Wife Of Weezer Bassist Diagnosed With Cancer Before Arrest For Attempted Murder

The wife of Scott Shriner, the bassist for Weezer, had been diagnosed with cancer before police arrested her for attempted murder. Jillian Shriner, who is also an author, was detained on April 8 for allegedly pointing a gun at police officers. Before this wild incident, 51-year-old Jillian was recovering from cancer treatments.

In an Instagram post shared on March 4, Jillian posted a photo of herself in the hospital looking cheery with a thumbs-up. "I'd like to thank the Academy, my amazing hair and makeup team, and the lighting designers here at #glendaleadventisthospital," she wrote while in pre-op get-up. "Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y'all. I know a lot of us do."

Jillian then thanked the "incredible oncology team" who performed a successful operation on her. "I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate, and excellent medical care I receive in my life. Thank you to all the remarkable health care workers, who take our lives in your hands. And let's all breathe."

Then, over a month later, we find out that police arrested Jillian amid a police shooting. According to ABC 7, the cops were chasing hit-and-run suspects near her Los Angeles home. Although an unrelated incident, the three suspects fled to the neighborhood, one near the rear of Jillian's residence.

"As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female," said the LAPD in a press release. They later identified her as the Weezer member's wife who was in her neighbor's yard with a handgun. "The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused."

Due to Jillian not complying with orders and allegedly aiming the gun at the officers, a cop shot her. He gave her a non-life-threatening wound, according to the LAPD. After they fired on her, she fled to her home but later came out as they took her into custody.

Once she recovered in the hospital for her gunshot wound, they charged her with attempted murder. Jillian reportedly used a 9-mm handgun that they found in her home. No one else was injured, and the cops managed to catch one of the male suspects from the hit-and-run.

They figured out soon enough that Jillian wasn't involved in the altercation. This makes it even more odd as to why she tried shooting at the officers. Perhaps she was worried they were after her since they were pursuing the suspects around her home.
