The One Thing That Jason Aldean Sings About More Than Any Other

Although Jason Aldean doesn't like being tagged as 'Bro Country,' his unimaginitive lyrics certainly fit the bill. However, despite the label, you would be surprised to find out that what Aldean sings about most isn't beers, babes, or even his truck.

Wading through the Aldean library, it appears that there is one thing on his mind: It's town. Through his whole repertoire of music, he has a total of ten songs with the word town in the title. I'm not sure why he's gotten so hooked on that particular subject, but there it is.

But, it isn't only singles with the name either. Jason Aldean also decided to name a whole album Rearview Town, properly solidifying his love for that particular-sized community.

The ten town titled tracks by Jason Aldean are:

"Hicktown"
"Crazy Town"
"Tattoos on This Town"
"This Nothin' Town"
"Two Night Town"
"Rearview Town"
"Keeping It Small Town"
"Champagne Town"
"Small Town Small"
"Try That in a Small Town"

Don't Call Me Bro

The modern era of country music has been given a new, slightly derogatory term - Bro country. It was coined by Jody Rosen and referred to the babes, booze, guns, and trucks era of modern country. It's all about the tattooed, toned, pop-rock country blend you hear pouring out of frat houses.

There is a certain shallowness to bro country that fits the one-track mind town obsession Jason Aldean seems to have. Their tracks lack the complexity and insight of more traditional country. But don't let Aldean hear you calling him bro.

"We've got songs that definitely have some meat on them and tell a great story. It's not all about trucks and girls and beer and whatever else they think it is," he said in an interview on Penn Live. He is right, too. He sings about more than just those things; he also sings about towns, if you weren't already aware.

But we shouldn't be so harsh. His rock country sounds might be a little samey, but he's got his own style. Plenty of people enjoy his music, even if the country puritans think he hasn't produced a decent song since the Flyover State album.
