It's fascinating what children and adults alike will do to themselves for a TikTok challenge. Many challenges are fun and harmless, but as one embarrassed mom discovered, some can cause serious injury.

Per a report by the New York Post, Klaire Cave, 40, was on holiday in Grange-over-Sands with her cousin, Gemma Stephens, 29, earlier in March. We all do silly things on vacation, and Cave decided to replicate a TikTok challenge at the hotel. The challenge doesn't have a fancy name, with the tag '#droppingthingsonmyfoot,' and it's about as dumb as it sounds. TikTok has since removed the video for breaking guidelines, but the outlet still has the footage.
As the name suggests, TikTokers drop various items on their feet from waist height and rate the pain out of ten. Cave tests the waters during her challenge attempt by dropping a metal spoon on her foot. She slightly grimaces at the camera before describing the pain as a "one." Next up, we have a small wooden door wedge. "hahaha, I'm scared," Cave declares before dropping the doorstop on her foot, scoring the pain a "two."
Next up, we have a small hotel bin, which Cave empties before dropping. The bin lands with a bang, forcing Klaire to swear and hop around before rating her pain a 6/10. Convinced her foot can take more punishment, she then drops a plastic kettle on her foot, scoring it a seven.
Cave grabs a large fan with a metal stand in what seems like a massive escalation. Understandably, we get our highest rating yet, at 8/10. She drops a couple of smaller items, including a boot and a glass bottle, scoring the latter with an eight before we reach our grand finale.
A Suitcase Brings The TikTok Challenge To A Close
Last but not least, Cave drops a large, heavy blue suitcase on her bare foot. "I can't do it," she exclaims before dropping it with a colossal thud. "Why do we all do it?" she asks, hopping around the room before saying, "It's a ten, it's a ten." Cave reportedly knew something was wrong the following day when she tried to walk on her injured foot. A trip to Sunderland General Hospital revealed she had ligament damage and broke her fourth metatarsal bone. She now has to wear a large medical boot for six weeks. After the hospital visit, Cave reportedly said "I've definitely learned my lesson. I'll not be doing any more challenges, not at all."
TikTok challenges frequently make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Earlier this month, a 7-year-old suffered life-altering burns after putting a toy in the microwave.
