A New Jersey hardcore rock band, Gel, abruptly disbanded after its guitarist allegedly committed "heinous acts," including stealing thousands of dollars to fund an "unbelievable amount" of OnlyFans subscriptions. The split comes just weeks before the band's scheduled performance at Coachella.

Gel announced the breakup to fans in a detailed social media post on Wednesday. The band stated, "Gel is no longer a band, and therefore will not be playing any of our currently scheduled upcoming shows." They accused former guitarist Anthony Webster of actions that caused "irreparable damage" to the group and its members. "It's affected us as human beings more than we can even attempt to explain," the post added.
The band claimed Webster stole tens of thousands of dollars after gaining sole control of their bank account. He allegedly spent the money on rent, food orders, and personal desires. "He also spent it on a truly unbelievable number of OnlyFans purchases and mysterious CashApp transactions," the band said. Additionally, Webster is accused of leaking nude photos of bandmates to Reddit, failing to cover his tracks.
Formed in 2018 as a side project for Sick S-t, Gel included Webster, singer Sami Kaiser, bassist Matthew Bobko, guitarist Madison Nave, and drummer Alex Salter. The band recently completed a 2025 Australia tour and had big plans ahead. They were set to perform at Coachella on Sunday, headlined by Post Malone, and join Canadian band Spiritbox on the Tsunami Sea North American Tour in April alongside Loathe and Dying Wish.
Band Thanks Fans
The band expressed deep regret over the situation. "It's not so easy to just give something up that you care so much about," they wrote, comparing their experience with Webster to an abusive relationship. They called him a "little f-king baby" incapable of maturity, alleging he brought "absolute misery" to those around him except those he aimed to impress.
Despite the turmoil, Gel's members fought to keep the band alive. "We'd like to send our most sincere and deepest apologies to anyone who this is affecting," they said. The group thanked fans and friends for their support over the years, urging them to "take care of each other, and love your friends."
Gel's breakup cancels additional shows, including a July run with Anxious in Delaware and the U.K., plus a European tour opening for Danish band Volbeat. The sudden end leaves fans and the music scene reeling from the fallout of Webster's alleged actions.
