Tragedy strikes fans, friends, and family of Jesse Colin Young. Recently, the frontman of the band Youngbloods passed away at 83 years old. His publicist Michael Jensen informs everyone that he died in his home in Aiken, South Carolina. Currently, there's no word on the cause of death from his wife and manager Connie Young.

Jesse and his band were best known for their 1969 record "Get Together." The song could be heard in a number of films like Forrest Gump, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and more. The Youngbloods hit acts as an ode to peace and love, a call to arms of sorts to be kinder to one another.
They emphasize union amongst one another rather than shrink and hide in bigotry and distrust. You could argue it's one of the quintessential records of the 1960s.

Fans and artists have gone out of their way to give tribute to the late Youngbloods singer. For instance, Chuck D, legendary rapper of the duo Public Enemy, calls "Get Together" one of his favorite songs ever. Moreover, he shares a painting of the late singer.
Additionally, one fan highlights one of their favorite cuts from Jesse titled "Darkness, Darkness." One of only a precious, precious few albums that I've gone out of my way to acquire the Mobile Fidelity issue of was The Youngbloods' "Elephant Mountain," they write. "Particularly for a good, clean, uncompressed copy of this song."
Similarly, another fan highlights that Jesse Colin Young record, labeling it as one of the premier records of folk music in the '60s. "One of my favorite deep cuts of the late '60s.
