It has been revealed that Kid Rock is in the "early beginnings" of making a gospel album. It's not known how this album of his will take shape, but it's not something anyone expected from him.

Kid Rock confirmed that he's working on the worship album in a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. The host kicked things right off by asking the singer, "Kid Rock, is it true that you're planning to do a gospel album?"
After a brief hesitation, he answered, "I am."
"Early beginnings now, doing a gospel record with my old friend Rick Rubin," he explained. Rick Rubin has worked with Kid Rock before when he produced the Born Free album.
Given Kid Rock's lyrical track record, an album focused on worshipping the Lord isn't an expected move. However, faith works in mysterious ways, and there's always room for forgiveness in the Christian faith. It's possible the album marks a new journey of faith for Kid Rock; perhaps it's something he's been wanting to do for a while.
Details on the religious record are sparse. As they're only in the beginning stages, it's likely we'll be waiting a small while for any news on it. I wonder if he'll keep it quintessentially 'Kid Rock,' or if he'll lean in to more traditional conventions.
Bill Maher Brings Up Past Kid Rock Lyrics
Again, given what Kid Rock has sung about before, the news may come as a bit of a shock.
"So, how does that fit in with some of the songs you've had in the past?" Maher asked, and brought up "Lowlife."
"You wouldn't sing that song in church," he pressed.
Kid Rock responded with, "I might."
"I know the Ten Commandments pretty well. And in those commandments, I've never once seen or even heard a thought of one being, 'Thou shalt not swear,'" he continued. But the swearing wasn't where Maher was going with his point.
Although Maher thinks the song is "hysterical," he brought up lyrics such as "I got kids I've never seen, and their mama's 17."
Yeah, not exactly the words of an unwavering Christian. But let's give him a chance. What faithful Christian doesn't have a rocky past?
