Boy George's presence outside the Bowies' home in London did not sit too well with Mrs. Bowie. He said, ""I used to sit outside his house. There's a famous story about [Bowie's ex-wife] Angie opening the window and telling us to f--- off. She opened the window and goes, 'Would you just f--- off!'"

He would try to attend Bowie's gigs and hoped for a quick peek at the star other times as well. At 14, per the outlet, Boy George recalls waiting patiently for Bowie, who was coming home from Berlin, just to catch a fleeting look at him.

His memory of that long-ago incident is still vivid. "He [Bowie] arrived at Victoria station in the big sort of Cadillac, and I remember being photographed and I remember thinking, 'I might get in trouble because I'm being photographed. What if my mum sees it?' So I recently saw [the photo] and it's mindblowing."

He Finally Met Bowie And Was Devastated When He Passed Away

"I first saw David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust performing at Lewisham Odeon in 1973 just before my twelfth birthday. It was for me a life changing and life affirming event. I had no idea that he would retire Ziggy Stardust the following night but I feel blessed to have been there and I went on to see him perform in his many incarnations."

He continued, "I sat outside his home in Beckenham and I was there at Victoria Station when he arrived back from Berlin. My childhood is peppered with memories of being a Bowie super fan and I have loved him constantly throughout my adult life."

Boy George even mentioned dining with Bowie twenty years ago. "That dinner was like a dream. We talked about Eastenders (yes, the TV show), British tea, Russian art films, new bands he loved, and Angie Bowie."
