Colt Ford firmly believes his recent heart attack was a message from God. The 55-year-old suffered a near-fatal heart attack last year, an incident that he now says was a message directly from Heaven.

"It was kind of the perfect storm for me," Ford tells FOX News. "I had already been on a weight-loss journey. I became famous as the fat guy. I was working on my weight, and I was down a bunch."
Because of that, Ford was shocked when he had his heart attack. But now that he has recovered, and is ready to perform again, he is grateful for the experience.
"God just told me I need to sit down and pay attention to what's going on around me," Ford says. "And I think try to use it for something as positive as I can, no matter what it is. To have that second chance, that just doesn't happen. It is such a gift. I realize how precious some things are now. It makes me focus a little bit differently now."
In hindsight, the singer and rapper is thankful for the lessons he learned by coming through something to traumatic.
"It's been pretty profound, for sure," he acknowledges. "It just makes you realize some of the things you think are important or that maybe you were chasing as a younger man or a younger person ... they're not really that important."
Colt Ford's Brush With Death
Ford later revealed he died three times, after performing at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row. Ford says it's Brantley Gilbert, who was also at the show, who saved his life.
"I don't care what you got to do, get him to the other hospital, ASAP," Ford shares on the Big D & Bubba radio show.
It was Ford's band that found him, and also did everything they could to get him the help he needed.
"Luckily, my band came out to check on me..." Ford shares. "And then all of a sudden they were like, 'Oh God,' and then that is when all hell broke loose."
Now that he has survived the heart attack, Ford is even more focused on eating healthy.
"I've changed everything. If I go by a Whataburger, I'll eat a grilled chicken sandwich," Ford tells People. "I don't do all the fries and stuff ... McDonald's used to be my s--t, and I loved it, but I haven't even craved it."
