Particularly, it hones on how the family grappled with the aftermath of Alec's 2021 Rust shooting and the trial for it. Evidently, the incident definitely took a toll on Alec mentally, describing days when he couldn't get out of bed. "That's not like me," he says. "I'm not like that at all - not in any way am I like that, ever."
Additionally, his wife Hilaria Baldwin highlights just how bad it got with Alec. The aftermath goes even further than the route of anxiety and depression. The doctors diagnose him with something else too. "Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline. He was diagnosed with PTSD," she reveals.
Alec Baldwin Suffers With PTSD After Fatal Shooting On Set
There were other times when Alec's thoughts grew particularly darker. Oftentimes, he would often wish he had died so that he wouldn't experience such mental torture. "If an accident had to happen this day, why am I still here? Why couldn't it have been me?" Hilaria Baldwin recalls her husband saying.
For context, Alec starred and co-produced in a film titled Rust. Sadly, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life on set after a shot fired from a prop gun Baldwin had. The director Joel Souza also ends up suffering injuries as a result. Consequently, Alec ends up being charged with involuntary manslaughter for his involvement. Shortly afterward, he feverishly pleads not guilty and that he didn't actually pull the trigger.
Baldwin would've faced 18 months in prison for the shooting had judges ruled him guilty. However, the judge dismissed the case last year before it could ever go to trial. Now, Alec takes the opportunity to reveal how the shooting has affected him on his new reality show.
