'Yellowstone' Fans May Have Just Found Their Next Fix With New Netflix Show: See Trailer For 'Ransom Canyon'

Never fear, Yellowstone fans, for there's a new fictional ranching series in town.

It's not been too long since Yellowstone finally concluded, leaving fans in mixed minds. Although the franchise is continuing through other spin-offs, sequels, and prequels, some are hungry for a new ranch to be invested in. Especially if the ending left you sour.

Well, Netflix may be answering that call with Ransom Canyon. It's based on the book by Jodi Thomas from 2015 (some years before Yellowstone), and has cast Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly in leading roles.

Reports everywhere keep comparing Ransom Canyon to Yellowstone and Virgin River, which does make a lot of sense. Although it does lean more toward romance, Jinny Howe, Netflix's Head of Drama and Development, told Deadline in 2022.

As there are 11 books in the series, I wonder how they'll tackle the show moving onwards from season 1. Will each season be a faithful recreation, or will the show forge its own identity?

The show is premiering on Netflix on April 17, so make sure to tune in then to catch it.

Internet Reacts To 'Ransom Canyon'

Most people who have watched the trailer are fairly optimistic, and are certain they'll enjoy the show. Others, however, think Netflix is trying to iron out their own Yellowstone. They took to the comments to share their thoughts and feelings.

"First with Territory, then American Primeval, and now with Ransom Canyon, it's pretty obvious that Netflix is after its own Yellowstone," wrote one, seeing through Netflix's schemes.

"I'm going to love this show - I can tell already," commented a pumped up fan.

"The revival of the Western genre in recent years has been golden," wrote another.

"YESSSS WAS SO WAITING FOR THIS," yells an excited fan who's likely read the books.

"Clearly, Netflix is in its Tyler Sheridan era," joked another.

It seems like most are pretty pumped for Ransom Canyon. I wonder if it'll hit the same highs as Yellowstone? If it does at least it'll keep my keyboard busy with new things to write about.
