The Flat River Band makes sure to keep in touch with their super fans and give them updates in a way I think we really need more of in the industry.

I had the pleasure of talking to the Flat River Band about the two singles they released on Valentine's Day (with my favorite being "Love Run" — I'm listening to it right now).
When talking to them, they made me aware of the brilliant way they keep in personal contact with their fans.
The Flat River Band have a text platform that allow their fans to throw them a message whenever, and one of the band members will actually respond to them.
"We have this thing called 'community' that we do," they explained to me. "It's really kinda reserved for the super fans."
"It's a texting platform that goes to all 3 of our phones," they continued. "The super fans can reach out and text us ... and one of the three of us will respond to it."
"It's usually relatively quick, it's like a text message."
They said that they'll even respond with a photo or video of whatever it is they're doing, keeping the conversations between them and their fans personal and fun. And honestly, I can't think of a better way to keep in contact with your fans.
The Flat River Band Even Message Their Fans When They're Performing Locally
As an added bonus, any of their fans on the text platform will get special treatment. As a thank-you of sorts, fans local to anywhere they're performing will receive a message with a link that grants them access to a VIP list if they want to attend.
How cool is that?
The band said that it's "been a really cool way for us to get to know our super fans."
"It's really nice to get to know the people that love and support your music," they continued.
Apparently, the band "[gets] texts every day," and they love it. I personally think we need so much more of this in the music industry in general.
"It's more personal," they said. "I think that's something that's probably missing in art."
