The War and Treaty Open Up About Life on The Road With Son

Life on the road seems stressful enough. You're never at home, you account for an entirely different routine and lifestyle. This doesn't even consider if there's kids in the mix. Trying to cater and discipline them alike shifts drastically due to the lack of consistency and infrastructure. But it seems like The War and Treaty have quite the concrete household. Now, they're taking their youngest on the road with them.

Recently, The War and Treaty spoke with PEOPLE to promote their new album Plus One. There, the pair opens up about their 13 year old son Legend who's about to join them on tour. He'll not only play the role of photographer but he'll also go on stage to do a little singing himself. Additionally, it seems like he isn't too afraid to express his opinion to his parents. "He keeps us humble," Tanya jests. "He lets us know when we suck."

The War and Treaty seemingly have quite the kid who knows his worth and doesn't shy from expressing it either. "He says we don't pay him enough, so he doesn't work for us," Tanya continues joking. "He went online and was like, 'Mom, you guys are only paying me $25. I want to be paid $25 a photo!' He came downstairs yesterday, because I have a collection of vintage wigs and stuff. He was like, 'Mom, you need to leave those wigs alone for a couple months.'"

As for as their other three children, they're fully grown at this point. Still, the love and admiration remains the same, so much so, their 20 year old daughter Courtney also goes on the road for them. Frankly, The War and Treaty are just glad they aren't too lame for their kids. "Some people's lives are really, really changed, and all the kids, they connect to that," Michael says. "It's so cool to see because three of our children are now 'grown,' but to see them still connected to these songs emotionally just like when they were younger is really touching."
