Recently, The Price is Right host spoke with UsWeekly to open up about his mental health. There, he admits that he can't bring himself to open up romantically ever since losing his ex-fiancé Amie Harwick to murder back in 2020. "I think about her every day. It's such a loss. Her death still affects me and my ideas about relationships and intimacy," Drew says.
Drew Carey Won't Date Because He Still Mourns His Ex-Fiancé
To make matters worse, it seemed like Carey and Harwick were on the brinks of forgiving one another for past transgressions. However, when her ex boyfriend strangled and killed her, Amie's last text rings in his mind. 'I got a text from her out of the blue. She said, "Hey, it's Amie. I've been thinking a lot about forgiveness. Would love to get together with you and talk about some things. I texted her that I loved her and that I'd see her the next week," Drew recalls. "I heard from one of her friends that she shed tears about my saying that I loved her still. Which I did. I loved her madly even though we were broken up."
However, due to her passing, Carey never received the clarity and closure with Amie. Now, all Drew is left with is that lingering 'what if' that roots in you battling survivor's guilt. "The next day she was murdered, and we never got a chance to get together. It destroyed me for a while. I still don't date. I have women I go out with and spend time with, but it's all platonic, and I don't care about anything else. Amie's death really affected everything," Drew says.
