For a show all about cowboys, horses, and ranches, you'd think all the actors would be okay with horses. Well, think again.
People generally believe that exposure therapy would work for a fear of animals, especially ones like horses. However, Asbille got up to her very last Yellowstone scene without getting over the fear. Years, she'd spent filming with horses around, and never managed to tackle it.
But then she had to ride one for the show.
Asbille visited the Kelly Clarkson Show on January 14, where she discussed her fear of horses and filming her final scene on horseback.
Kelsey Asbille Shares Of Her Fear Of Horses
"I am so scared of horses," Asbille laughs. She was previously talking about what it was like filming the final scene and waiting out the wildfires. They were all on "horseback," and although she got to witness a "gorgeous, really beautiful" scene, she was still on the back of an animal she feared.
"[Taylor Sheridan] kept being like 'Monica, ride up, ride up,' and I'd be like 'nope! She's going to be right here,'" she joked. "She's going to oversee, from behind."
"I start a stand-up routine on the horse because I'm just so nervous," she explained. Dispelling the jitters through an onslaught of jokes and nervous laughter is a common go-to.
Her horse phobia also meant that she missed out on cowboy camp every year, apart from the last one, "and for good reason."
Those at the cowboy camp didn't go easy on her, however. "They threw me right in with all the cattle, and I'm just a mess."
It did provide some comfort to Asbille that they had "the best wranglers in the world," however. I don't know what international competition gave them such credentials, but I suppose we can take their word for it.
At least Asbille didn't let her fear of horses didn't impede the final scene or any of the filming. It does take some guts to withstand your deep phobia for so many years.
