Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Wife Amy Reveals How It Was Love at First Sight With Her Husband

Sometimes, you just know when that special someone is the right person for you. It really doesn't even take much. Call it love at first sight or cobble it up to magnetism but there's a magic in the air that you just can't deny. This is the case for Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s wife Amy, where a lot of luck led them to the point where they're married with two daughters. Now, she's telling the story of how it all came together.

Recently, she went on Kenny Wallace's Kenny Conversation podcast. There, she sketches out her journey through college as a Kentucky Wildcat and how it all led to her meeting Dale. She clunks around in different majors like engineering and architecture before landing on interior design. Then, Amy finds work in Jacksonville, Florida. This is where their love story begins.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and His Wife Amy First Connect While Building Their Future Home

Amy's boss had already sealed the connection with Dale through the builder for his home. The director had been a long time NASCAR fan and took a swing on the opportunity. However, this isn't the kind of expansive work that they would usually do. "We weren't home builders, we were a commercial architecture firm," Amy prefaces. "We didn't do houses at all really, we did apartment buildings, doctors offices, malls, all kinds of stuff like that. So I don't know, it felt a little cosmic that we got the job to begin with, and I met [Dale] in a meeting at JRM just looking at plans about the house that we are now in."

Then, she describes this interaction with Dale that sounds straight out of a romance film. "Honestly, the first meeting, and I wasn't looking. I don't think he was looking. He hardly looked up from the plans that at one point, I'm talking about something, I don't remember what it was, and he turned over and then we made eye contact and I was like, 'Uh, what was that?' I, like, almost got a little truly choked up," Amy recalls.

Afterwards, her boss clearly could tell there was spark between them, even without any words said. Dale's busy schedule keeps him from connecting with Amy for a while. Eventually, though, they're able to hang out at a bar in Charlotte, North Carolina for some special event. After Dale's friend TJ Majors pulls some strings, the pair finally cozy up to one another and the rest was history. Because I'm just dancing doing my own thing, TJ Majors walk me over to Dale's little booth and says, 'Hey, come sit by my friend.' And it wasn't 'Hey, come talk to Dale, it was, 'Hey, my friend wants to hang out with you,' Amy recalls. "Which is super weird. But who knows, those boys, the way they operated back then is really funny. So I sat down, and we hung out and talked all night and had the best time."
