Yellowstone's Season 5 is airing its final episode of Season 5 on Sunday, December 15. The long-anticipated final episode is finally here. But due to some dubious wording, however, many people believe there is a Season 6 to come. Will we be watching the series finale or just the season finale?

The idea that there may be another Season after Season 5 is due to particular wording. Many have pointed this out across social media channels. "OK but they're advertising the finale as the SEASON finale not the SERIES finale?....just sayin' ?," one writes, hoping for more Yellowstone action.
Someone even asked Reddit, "Why did they keep saying "season" finale instead of "series" finale? ??." The dubious phrasing has many believing the show will continue, for better or worse.
However, I believe we will be watching the series finale, due to a number of reasons. Although this still may not be the last we see of the show's characters.
The episode airing today seems prepared to deliver a dramatic ending. Exclusively revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Season 5's Episode 6 will be 1 hour and 26 minutes long. That's essentially a whole movie. The episode is titled "Life Is A Promise," and the logline reads, "The fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is revealed."
Movie-esque episode with a logline like that? It seems the series is ending for sure. But this may not be the end.
'Yellowstone' Spin-offs May Be In The Works
There have been rumors abound that a spin-off series will happen after Yellowstone concludes, focusing on Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. Although Deadline reported that this is happening, it has not been officially confirmed.
Considering that two prequel series were already made, 1883 and 1923, it's not unfeasible for more spin-off content to exist.
It's likely that no spin-off series have been announced yet either due to the potential spoilers. If we know there's a spin-off involving Yellowstone characters, then we'll know who survives (Although Cole Hauser may have spoiled that already).
So although the fate of Dutton Ranch may be concluded, it may not be the end of the setting and characters.
