Beyoncé Finally Won An Award For Her Country Album With Billboard Win: Internet Reacts

The CMA awards snubbed Beyonce? and gave her no nominations for Cowboy Carter which broke records for country music sales, and marked a huge step for black women in country music. But, Billboard has finally given it the award it deserves.

Beyonce? fans were shocked to see not even a mention of Cowboy Carter at the Country Music Awards. It spent a staggering 22 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart. Surely, that is enough to at least get some recognition.

But, now, she has been given her due rewards. The Billboard chart, which is a much more reputable awards show than the CMA's, has given Beyonce? her congratulations for her contributions to the Country Music scene.

However, the internet isn't completely in agreement with the decision. Her superfans are delighted, whereas others are a bit sick of her, in all honesty.

Divided Response To Beyonce? Being Named Best Country Artist

There's no pleasing everybody all the time and the internet's reaction to the win is indicative of that. Beyonce?, beyond a shadow of a doubt, released a monumental country album. But many die-hard country fans aren't exactly blown away by it.

Comments have flooded the internet along the lines of "Once again, Billboard proved they are out of touch," and "This ain't country." Others are disappointed, calling her a pop star rather than country artist. "She's not a country artist. She's an artist who tried her hand at making a country album (aoty btw absolutely remarkable) but as her career goes she isn't a "country artist" and this is what the narrative has been from country culture. Period." As usual, a talentless X user, only able to play his computer keyboard, gatekeeping an entire music genre.

But, on the whole, there is a lot of support for Beyonce? taking home the Country Music Award. There is no denying her influence across multiple genres, as one commenter on X points out. "Beyonce? is beyond influential. She literally changed the game. Her impact goes far beyond the scope of "sales". She has artistry, and she's inspired so many people after her. And she does all of this without creating such a parasocial brand with her fans."

The majority of people who are against Beyonce? receiving the Country Award seem to believe country artists can only be just that. Crossovers aren't allowed in Country, it's songs about pick-ups and heartbreak, or nothing. I guess that explains why Shaboozey has had such a hard time of it.
