21-year-old University of Georgia student Kristin Sargent reportedly plunged from the apartment building on Sept. 26. She survived the fall and is currently recovering in intensive care.
Now, the distressed 911 call shortly after the incident sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the UGA student's terrifying fall.
"We were dancing, and she just fell out of the window," Sargent's panicked friend told 911 dispatchers at the time, per audio obtained by The New York Post. "She's not moving," the female caller added.
"It was nothing extreme at all. We were all fully conscious," she explained to the 911 dispatcher, after noting that they had been drinking alcohol.
Meanwhile, another Rambler Athens apartment building resident reportedly witnessed Sargent's fall from their 5th-story window and also called 911.
"I just saw someone fall out of, like, the eighth-floor window and land on the grass by the pool," the man said, per The Post. "They look like they're unconscious, at least."
"We heard a noise and looked out and, yeah, it doesn't look good," he added.
Family Rushes to be by UGA Student's Side After Harrowing Fall
Richard Sargent, Kristin's dad, rushed from Virgina to be by her side after the fall.
"We got a phone call from somebody that just said, 'Oh my God, Kristin's had a tough fall,'" he told Channel 2 Action News. He also seemed to acknowledge that some celebrating that Saturday night may have gotten out of hand.
"University of Georgia just won a football game," Richard Sargent added, referring to the Georgia Bulldogs beating the Oklahoma Sooners 41-13. "I bet there was a lot of kids here who are 21 years old who were super happy."
