Now, Thornton is speaking out about the allegations. He strongly denied ever abusing his daughter and called the allegations false.
"In recent weeks, deeply personal allegations concerning our family, our parenting, and our Christian faith have been shared publicly through interviews, podcasts, social media, and subsequent media coverage. We ask that the allegations not be treated as established facts. We strongly dispute the allegations, and believe the public has not been presented with the full and accurate context or evidence necessary to evaluate them," he said.
He continued, "Given the sensitive and serious nature of these allegations, and the public attention surrounding them, largely due to me being a founding member of Color Me Badd, my wife and I needed time to process and heal from the hurt and devastation these accusations have caused; and to contemplate how these actions will affect our family moving forward. Since the inception of these allegations, my wife and I have received death threats and public threats of physical harm. We wholeheartedly maintain our innocence, reject the veracity of these claims, and welcome a fair examination of the facts."
Singer Denies Allegations
"At this time, we have been advised to not litigate the motives or details of this matter on social media. But I will confirm that this is not a single person assault against us," Kevin also wrote. "Moreover, we are taking the necessary steps to hold every party responsible for launching and/or fueling these defamatory claims accountable. We are prepared to unequivocally challenge every lie, deception, and act of defamation against us.
He concluded, "Thank you to all who have supported and prayed for my family during this difficult time. A special thanks to those who have remained unbiased until both sides have been heard. Rest assured, THE TRUTH will indeed come to light. Blessings, Kevin Thornton."
This comes after Mikayla claimed the singer physically abused her and her siblings. His daughter accused him of beating them with the Bible and also focing them to participate in exorcisms. She compared growing up to being in a cult.
She accused, "My dad was the head; we were his disciples. We worshipped our father. My relationship with my parents is so weird because all you want to do is love your parents. And all we ever have done is love our parents. We thought the world was against us because that's what they would tell us."
