Look, I'm all for getting to the hospital in a timely manner. But this is ridiculous. We don't know if the crash caused the injuries, but we're sure it didn't help. An elderly woman died on the way to the hospital after the ambulance she was in crashed on the way to the hospital. Why are we paying hundreds of dollars for these things?

Ambulance Crashes On Way To Hospital
Per the Mercury News, Grace Poretta, an elderly woman who lived in California, was part of a car crash. No, she wasn't the driver, no, she wasn't riding shotgun. She was on her way to the hospital, riding in the back of an ambulance,
This tragedy was at 6:45 am on a Saturday. The California Highway Patrol investigators claimed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road. Again, this driver was supposed to be a licensed professional. A man (or woman) who was in the business of saving lives not taking them.
Luckily, there were no other vehicles involved, but apparently the crash was terrible. The car allegedly crashed so hard that it split into two pieces upon impact. I get that it's an emergency vehicle and its job is to be fast. I promise I understand the concept. But it is incredible to me that the car drove so fast that it split on impact. Maybe let's drive the emergency vehicle at a controllable speed.
Grace Poretta Died
According to Jasmine Wood, Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson, Poretta suffered critical injuries. Jasmine could not confirm whether the injuries were sustained in the crash or if she had already been in critical condition.
That's never a good sign, to be honest. The paramedics sustained only minor injuries and, thankfully, have been released from the hospital. But 90-year-old Grace died an hour and a half after the accident.
CBS spoke to a few witnesses. One of which, Robert Mullinax, stated, "He must have been traveling at a really high speed to have that much damage." Another resident claimed the crash "shook the entire house".
Let's stay safe out on the roads, folks.
