Diego Fleury, the 25-year-old thief, can be seen eyeing up the old woman as he approaches. She has just walked out from the shop where she collected her lotto win. As she makes her 83-year-old way to the car, he takes his opportunity.

Fleury initially struggles to grab the lotto winnings from the 83-year-old woman, fumbling at her belongings. She may be old, but she's not letting that $200 dollars go without a fight. A shop clerk from inside sees the situation and comes outside to help her.

However, despite the efforts of the two people, Fleury still manages to snatch her cash. He knocks her to the ground, pushes the other man off, and scarpers. He's now $200 richer, and a wanted man.

He was picked up from his mother's house on charges of battery. He didn't turn up to his court date, and his lawyer says he needs to be checked for mental health.

83-Year-Old Not Put Off The Lotto

Despite Ruth Monroe, the 83-year-old, having a bad time with her lotto winnings, she isn't put off. In just a few days she was back to buy more lotto tickets. Bandaged and unshaken, she spoke to Live 5 News. "His face was cold, you know. I looked at him, and he pulled it out of my hand. Then he ran off that way," she said, indicating where he went.

With her hand wrapped up after her fall, the 83-year-old woman hasn't been put off buying her lotto tickets. She's already won once, so why not win again? In the interviews taken by Live 5, she can be seen happily chatting away with the store clerk as she buys her new tickets.

One charitable member of her community gave her a check for $250. He also bought a lotto ticket for the store clerk who ran to her aid. Despite the traumatic experience, old Monroe seemed in good spirits. The whole affair looked like quite the ride.
