Dolores and Trent Winstead of Tennessee were married almost 64 years when they both passed away this month. A true testament to the power of love, the two died within hours of each other.

The two originally met in the 1950s in Dickson, Tenn. and “they were opposites from each other,” according to the couple’s daughter, Sheryl Winstead. “I think that’s what made them click,” she told WKRN.

Trent and Dolores were engaged soon after meeting, happily married for over six decades and lived in west Nashville until recently. Unfortunately, sickness struck just shy of their 64th wedding anniversary. Trent was admitted to the hospital due to failing kidneys. Then, Dolores began to struggle as well.

“She starts having a really bad headache…she was having a brain aneurysm,” explained the couple’s son, Eddie. “Both of them ended up in the same hospital room. From that point, she lasted about two days.”

Eddie told a local news station that he knew that his father might not be far behind. “I told him, I said, ‘Dad, if you want to go be with mom, that’s quite alright with Sheryl and I.’” Then, sure enough, Trent passed away just a few hours later.

Although losing loved ones is incredible sad, it’s touching that the couple was able to pass on at the same time. “It’s like God made their travel arrangements and they went together,” said their daughter Sheryl.

What a prime example of truly not being able to live without someone. Condolences to the Winstead family during this difficult time of loss.
