In the early hours of Saturday, February 8, a bus collided with a truck in the state of Campeche, Mexico. This led to the tragic death of 41 people, including 38 bus passengers, two bus drivers, and the truck driver who collided with the bus. The bus was carrying 48 passengers in total. Reportedly, the bus burst into flames following the fatal crash.

According to Reuters, sources from Tabasco, the bus' destination, confirmed that only 18 skulls have been retrieved from the scene, with the rest missing. The bus operator, Tours Acosta, would later address the crash in a
Facebook post. They reported that the truck invaded the bus' lane, which caused the tragic crash. Moreover, the bus was driving at a moderate speed and was in optimal condition."The public ministry has informed us that the investigation will be taking effect in the prosecutor's office of the municipality of Candelaria, Campeche," Tour Acosta wrote. "For this reason, the relatives of our passengers and friends will have to go to this department to perform the relevant procedures."
Javier May Rodríguez, governor of Tabasco, also addressed the crash on social media.
"We deeply regret the accident that occurred this morning near Escárcega, involving a bus that was coming from Cancún to Tabasco," Rodríguez wrote. "We are coordinating with federal and Campeche authorities to provide the required assistance. The Secretary of Government is closely following up on the situation."
The Constitucional City Council of Comalcalco confirmed via X that they would collaborate by transporting the bodies of the deceased to their places of origin.

Hours following their initial statement, Tours Acosta would
once again post on Facebook. This time, however, they delivered a heartfelt message directed at the families of the deceased."Our words become insufficient in the face of the void left by the loss of so many loved ones," Tours Acosta wrote. "Entire families, friends, and communities are marked by the pain of unexpected goodbyes, by interrupted dreams, and by stories left unfinished."
"In the midst of grief, we hold on to the memory of those who have departed, honoring their lives with gratitude and love. May their memory be a beacon of light in the darkness, and may their legacy endure in every smile, in every act of kindness, and in every gesture of solidarity."
