If it wasn't for the fact that there was scheduled maintenance work on the property, who knows how long the young child could have been left alone? It was only after they visited the property that they found the boy. They presumed, at first, that he was alone, but after investigating further, found the body of his dead grandma in the apartment with the boy.
For two days the four-year-old boy was alone in the apartment. His grandma had died, leaving him to fend for himself. Maintenance workers entered The Summerwood on Towne Line Apartments to repair his grandma's window. She had booked them in a short time before. They had called ahead but received no response.
On arrival, the front desk tried to contact the elderly woman. However, again, there was no response. The front desk allowed the workers to enter her home anyway, and it's a good thing they did.
As they started working, the four-year-old boy stepped from a room, leading the workers to believe he was home alone. However, on further investigation, it turned out the boy had been sharing the house with his dead grandma.
Nobody Suspected The Boy Was Left Alone With Dead Grandma
Speaking to neighbors, it was clear that nothing was out of the ordinary at the apartment. "I had just seen her a few days ago. She was so sweet and nice with every interaction we had," one neighbor commented. Old people can slip away so easily. It is important to make regular checks, even if they're just a neighbor.
Another neighbor pointed out that they had heard nothing unusual from the apartment. The young boy must have not known what to do with his dead grandma. He wasn't crying or shouting for help before the workers found him
The old woman was found dead in her bed. The situation is being investigated, but it seems to be a case of natural causes. Emergency services attempted resuscitation, but the efforts were in vain and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
