4 Indie Country Artists That Should Be On Your Playlist In 2025

Doing my job has allowed me to come across a lot of small artists, especially when constructing the weekly rankings of the latest country songs. And with all of these indie country musicians, it pains me that they're not stars already.

I know way too many small artists that deserve your ears. Out of the many artists I'd happily champion, however, there are some who have numerous spots on my personal playlist, Cottage Cheese (the spiritual successor to my power metal playlist, named Stilton Cheese).

In no particular order, here are four indie country artists you need to know. You will likely find them on WOC's growing playlist that has the best of the latest country songs. For a woman-focused list of small artists, I've also got you covered.

Joey Myron

Boy, do I love some Joey Myron. I could go at length about his discography, which is full of bangers. I don't want to pick favorites here, but I am a huge fan. If I'm not in the 1% of his Spotify listeners at the end of the year I'm fighting someone.

He's also got a diverse range of sounds he brings to the studio. His two latest tracks, "Southern Lover" and "Watch Me Burn" display this perfectly.

Onoleigh

Onoleigh has a very impressive discography, too. Every single song of hers is brilliant. I could just press play on her Spotify profile and let it run. She's also got range, but I think she shines when she lets it rip. But I've waxed lyrical about her before.

Her latest EP First Rodeo showcases some of her best work in my opinion. Especially "Drink and Cry."

Rob Williford

My first introduction to Rob Williford was his single "Johnny." That one is still a firm favorite country song of mine to this day. He has such a powerful voice that screams 'true country.'

His upcoming album will tell a story through its songs, and from the tracks already released I simply cannot wait to hear it.

The Kentucky Gentlemen

These brothers know how to throw it down. Their twin melodies blend beautifully into each other to make everything they sing sound that little more divine. The signature country twang that hangs on to their voice makes every song they sing a country classic.

I'm a huge fan of their recent drop "Made For Movin' On," but older tunes like "Beg Your Parton" do live in my head.

There you have it! Four burgeoning country stars that deserve so much more attention. Keep your eyes peeled on Wide Open Country, as I'm dedicated to uncovering the true talent that keeps country going.
