4 Hospitalized After Crane Topples Onto Car in Miami
City of Miami Fire Rescue Chief Robert Hevia said that the woman having enough instincts to reverse the car was "incredible."
"Because, you know, to be able to see the crane falling. Pull the car in reverse, and pop out of the back while the car was on fire is really incredible. Today is a new birthday for her,"
Hevia seems to laud the aftermath as a miracle. He further added that it was "impressive" that the four victims of the crane crash were able to be removed from the incident. With little injury.
"I've been on the fire department for 28 years; when you see the scene, it's impressive," Hevia said (via The New York Post). "The fact that we had four victims, and they were all able to be extricated or self-extricate themselves with minor injuries, is a remarkable day for them."
Fire Chief Describes "Complex" Scene
In addition to the driver, three of the construction workers on the scene were injured. The crane operator was able to extricate himself from the crane before it fell over. However, two other workers were trapped. All three were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
"It was a very complex scene with a fire that was occurring; our crews were putting out the fire, and our technical rescue team was working simultaneously to cut through the conex box, the construction box, and they were able to successfully extricate the two victims," Hevia said,
No word on what caused the crane to fall over. Hevia says that there is an ongoing investigation into the incident.
