Stacey King has sadly passed away at the age of 59. He is best remembered from his time with the Chicago Bulls, where he won three NBA championships while partnering with the legendary Michael Jordan. ESPN's NBA insider, Shams Charania, broke the news on X.

"Stacey King has passed away at 59 years old," Charania wrote. "A three-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls across eight NBA seasons after being the No. 6 pick in the 1989 draft, and a beloved broadcaster for the team in his post-playing career."

Jerry Reinsdorf, the long-time owner of the Chicago Bulls, also released a short statement via the Bulls' social media channels.

"Stacey King was a cherished member of the Bulls family and one of the truly unique personalities in our organization's history," Reinsdorf wrote. "His connection to Chicago, the Bulls and our fans spanned more than three decades—first as a player and later as the unmistakable voice that helped bring Bulls basketball into the homes of generations of fans."

The statement continued by praising Stacey's personality and what he meant to both the city of Chicago and the Bulls organization.

"We will miss him deeply and remember the joy, energy, humor, candor, and passion he brought to our organization, our broadcasts, and our fans every day. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones."

Stacey King Spent Four and a Half Seasons With the Chicago Bulls

The Bulls selected Stacey with the sixth overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft. He spent four and a half seasons with the franchise in what was an eight-year NBA career. As a rookie, Stacey suited up for all 82 of Chicago's games, averaging 8.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per outing.

The former center and power forward won three straight championships with Chicago. His first came in 1991, then again in 1992, and finally in 1993. He partnered with some of the greatest basketball talents of his generation, sharing the floor with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Horace Grant, among others.

There are currently no details regarding Stacey's death. Nor is there any information regarding an impending funeral. The NBA world will be in mourning following the news, and tributes will undoubtedly continue to pour in.
